Every resort should have one …

First time visitors to Viceroy Riviera MayaMexico, didn’t quite know what to make of him.  A loveable little bundle of metal, dressed to impress in impeccable water sports attire, this little fellow was the resort’s mascot, loved by all.

Keken – a sculpture created by the local builders when the resort was first constructed, appears either like a dog or a pig, depending on your point of view.

In the past, staff often tried to hide him away from public view so he could rest, but this workaholic was back on duty as soon as backs were turned.  This constant work ethic however has taken his toll and to my deep regret, I have heard that he has now been retired, living out his days at an undisclosed address.   It is hoped that “Son of Keken” might soon appear in this little oasis of Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya, because it is so true, every resort should have a legend.
